Return to the insanely difficult fantasy world!

I am very much looking forward to the game Dark Souls which is scheduled to come out on the 4th of October. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of you do not know or haven’t heard of this game. Well, Dark Souls is a sequel to Demon Souls which came out only for the PS3 about two years ago. Demon Souls is an action RPG from Japan which was not widely promoted here in the West. Very few people knew about Demon Souls when it was first launched  but because of how good the game is gamer’s from around the world started to recognize it as one of the best RPG to come out for Playstation.

Well, I don’t know much about Dark Souls but just because it’s sequel to my personal favorite RPG, that’s enough for me to go ahead and pick it up. If the system is going to be somewhat like Demon Souls with some added new things and upgrades to the game then that’s just perfect! For those who never played Demon Souls, well, I suggest you play it first. This game is more action oriented compared to traditional RPG’s like Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age. The action is so much fun but be warned, every gamer who played this game knows that the game is brutally difficult.

The goal in Demon Souls is to kill creatures/monsters in every level and gain souls for every slain foe. At the end of every level there will always be a boss fight. The bosses or demons are very unique and very tough to slay. After slaying a demon you then go back to your world where you can upgrade your weapons and skills. When you think you’re all set for another insane ride you then enter a portal to start another level. In Demon Souls there are five portals which have about four levels in each of them. So unlike your traditional RPG, Demon Souls is not an open world game. It is more linear but in a very good way. You have to go through all the portals and finish all the levels within them to beat the game.

Multiplayer wise, Demon Souls is very unique. Players online can leave clues to other players playing online. Using the controller you can type clues like ” There’s a trap ahead”. You will also be able to see how other online players died and what mistakes they did for that to happen by touching random blood stains on your way. Another good thing is summoning an ally to defeat a powerful foe or if you think that you’re the strongest then you can invade other players world and hunt them down.

If Dark Souls will be like Demon Souls or even better than it’s definitely a must play. Just the degree of difficulty alone challenges you so much and rewards you even more after slaying a demon.

Zumba Fitness for PS3

Today my husband and I dropped by Gamestop just to look around. Nothing exciting for PS3 in there. I guess the big titles don’t lunch until late January but still that didn’t stop us from getting a new game. We picked up the workout game Zumba Fitness. I’ve read some bad reviews about it but I still wanted to try it out since I love Zumba. As soon as we got home, I tried it out and I must add that I am pleased with the game. It’s a very good workout almost like real Zumba. My kids even love it.

The Sims 3

For months now I’ve been wanting to play The Sims 3 in ps3. I haven’t had the chance to pick it up because I keep finding other games that I also really want to play. I really like the concept in Sims. Maybe because I like designing. I like how you can customize everything from deciding which kitchen faucets you want in your kitchen to designing rooms and planning a persons life. I know most people don’t get the point of the game but for me it is a really cool game. If you like designing and building things, I’m sure you’ll like this game too.

The game’s overall technical performance adds another thin layer of discomfort. There are short pauses when opening certain menus (these are more prevalent and noticeable on the PS3) and frame rate hitches as you move the camera across the terrain. These seem like small flaws, but they add up in time, making The Sims 3 seem unrefined. At least the controls aren’t unwieldy. It takes some time to get used to them, but considering the mouse-centric PC controls, using a gamepad works about as well as you could expect. It’s simple to snap the camera to the active sim, plant flowers, buy appliances, and adjust the terrain. The biggest flaw here is that performing many basic actions pauses time so that you can make an appropriate selection, whereas your sims go about their business unhindered on the PC. Switching between sims, selecting a social interaction, choosing a television channel, and many other basic tasks cause the game to pause while it waits for your feedback. These pauses, like the loading times and technical faults, keep The Sims 3 from feeling as effortless as it should. from review snippet from Gamespot.com

Better than Nintedo DS!

I got this for Yuna 3 months ago as a replacement to her lost Nintendo DS. I didn’t know about this product until I spotted this at Target store. I’m supposed to get her a new Nintendo DSi but I’m skeptical cos she’s not responsbile enough. I’m worried that she will lose it again and waste another hundred bucks so we settled to get the Leapster Explorer 2.

Leapster Explorer is the latest product from LeapFrog. It’s their biggest brightest touch screen ever. An extraordinary new learning experience that encourages children to discovery something new every day with endless ways to play and learn from games, e-Books, videos, and online game to customizable learning skills and more.

My eldest is enjoying it from the day we purchased it along with its games. She finished the Math skills level for her age in Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure. The next thing I wanna get for her is the Enchanted Game Pack which includes The Princess and the Frog and Tangled. She needs her mathematics and spelling skills to play these games.

Black Ops

COD fans out there, are you ready for Black Ops? I’ve had just enough of Modern Warfare 2 already and getting pretty tired of the game. It’s been almost a year now playing MW2 and I need something fresh. I’ve seen a lot of trailers of Black Ops in youtube and it looks a lot of fun. Most people who comment on the videos though are not very impressed. They say it’s the same thing from the last COD’s. I don’t know about that though. Although the previews look really cool lets just wait for the game to come out before we completely judge it. Don’t forget how trailers and previews work. They try to make anything look good.

One thing about this game though that I’m really excited about is the new zombie mode. For weeks I’ve been trying to get information about the zombie mode. Some said that it’s the same zombie game from World at War so I was kind of disappointed when I heard that. Good thing though that I found a leaked video on youtube showing a little gameplay from the zombie mode. Cool thing about the zombie mode this time is that you’re in the Pentagon and the characters that can be used in the game are JFK, Nixon, Fidel Castro and one more guy. I forget his name. Anyway, it’s really cool. Check it out yourself on youtube. Just search “Pentagon zombie mode”.

I can’t really wait any longer for Black Ops. Just a few more days to go. For sure I’ll do another midnight at Gamestop for this one.

Zumba Fitness on PS3 Move!!!

OMG! OMG! I can not wait. I’m totally stoked for this. It’s coming this month or next month.

Zumba Fitness is a video game currently being developed by Pipeworks Software and will be published by Majesco Entertainment based on the Zumba program. It will coincide with the launch of the PlayStation Move and Kinect. The game will be released Autumn 2010.

Gameplay – The game supports up to four players on Wii and PlayStation Move, and up to two players on Kinect, both locally and online — from wikipedia

I’ve been attending Zumba basic class since Summer of this year in our local fitness center. I pay $5 every visit and it is totally fun. I love dancing. Actually, I used to be in a dance group when I was in high school. When I heard about that a class be held in the area, I did not hesitate to join the party.  It is indeed the best natural calorie-burner. I like it cos I sweat a lot. I’m the type of person that doesn’t sweat that much even if I run 3 miles.  Prior to this entry, I am so happy to know that it will also be coming in PS3 Move. <3 <3 <3

Watch this video ad using the XBOX 360. Again, it’s coming out for all the consoles.

Experiencing the Move…

After an early lunch yesterday, hubby and I decided to stop over at gamestop and pick up the newly released Playstation Move. On the way to Gamestop hubby was certain that he will get the sports bundle as it sounds like a better deal than buying all the Move accessories piece by piece. It turned out that although you can go ahead and play the sports champions game with everything in the bundle which includes a camera, a motion controller and the Bluray game itself, the experience will be a lot better if you had extra things like an extra motion controller and a navigation controller. Until now, I still don’t understand why the bundle did not include a Navigation Controller. It is by the way used to navigate through menus and when playing a game to walk around and go different directions. Pretty important to have when playing games. We went ahead and bought an extra motion controller since the experience is much better when you have two of those. Maybe next time we visit Gamestop we’ll purchase a navigation controller.

Setting up his PS3 Move

Playing the sport champions using the motion controllers for the first time was a very fun experience. The movement in the screen is pretty accurate and on the spot and you rarely experience lag when moving very fast. Although at first when I saw the controllers glowing I thought it was kind of weird but after playing a bit and watching my kids play with it now I think it’s kind of cute. I think right now the only game out for the Move is the sports game but in a few weeks more better games are coming out. These games should be fun so definitely give the Move some thoughts and give it a try. That’s all for now all. My arms are sore from playing Move (^O^)x

3D is coming to handheld gaming

2011 will be a special year for handheld gaming because Nintendo has officially announced its new handheld gaming device to be the successor of the popular DS, DSi and DSi XL which is the 3DS (not the official name). The 3DS will provide 3d gaming even without those annoying 3d glasses. Also, Nintendo is also nice enough to have a slot for game cartridges which will support backward compatibility. So now, you can get a 3DS and enjoy 3d gaming and still be able to play your old DS games.

This product will surely be awesome thanks to Nintendo but I think Sony will also come up with something next year to counter the 3DS. I mean, Sony has to come up with something after the PspGo didn’t really click. Expect the 3DS to hit store shelves sometime early next year and also expect a very high price tag but of course, it’s going to be worth it. 3D….it’s going to be awesome!

Top upcoming PS3 games

Sony has had a really good year so far. The start of 2010 was awesome with Sony releasing a lot of really good games for the PS3. The year started off with the action packed game Bayonetta then followed by games like Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, Yakuza 3 and of course the ever so popular God of War 3. All of these games are fantastic. Although right now, everything has cooled off a little bit. When ever I visit GameStop, I don’t really see anything new that I want to play. That doesn’t mean that the PS3 is done for the year though. When you think about it, It’s only May and we still have more than half of the year to go and there’s a bunch of good titles that are coming out soon.

First up is my most anticipated game for the year which is Crysis 2. I never got to play Crysis on the PC because it’s a monster when it comes to system requirements. My PC is not that hardcore, but I always wanted to play this game. So, here we go! Next we have Call of Duty Black Ops. It should be a very enjoyable game knowing that it’s Call of Duty. Another highly anticipated game is Medal of Honor. I wonder how it would fare against COD. Very interesting. Now, outside of the FPS genre we have games like Gran Turismo 5, Little Big Planet 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Mafia II, Final Fantasy XIV, The Last Guardian and much more. Now, these that I mentioned are only the big name games, there are still more “under the radar” games that are also coming out. You know how those can surprise us sometimes. Remember Demon Souls? Remember Blazblue? Who would’ve have thought that those games would be as good as they are?

Now, 2010 should really be a very exciting year not just for the Ps3 but for the whole gaming industry. I’m sure that all the games that I have mentioned are going to be awesome and should keep all of us gamers busy the whole year. Bye for now and have fun playing!

The Sims 3 coming out in Consoles

Yes its coming out this Fall. I’m not sure if I’m going to play it. I lost interest in playing video games anymore. Sometime I play, sometimes I don’t. I’m so busy with my kids and with all the workshop I’ve been taking at my daughter’s school. Also, I have plans on putting my eldest into an acting school. The enrollment will start this coming May 10 and I don’t how many session she will going to attend. Besides all of these, I can’t interrupt my hubby playing with his PS3. Maybe I should get my own lolz.. kidding!

So anyways, an excerpt about this news:

The PS3 and 360 editions of the game will also feature an online exchange system where players can share content they’ve created with others. The two versions will feature online integration with Facebook as well, allowing them to broadcast their achievements and trophies on the social networking service. More here!
