Thank god for editing software

It is now very easy to edit or DIY (do it your) wedding invitations, birthday invitations and so on because of all the different kind of editing software that’s out now a days. I think everyone today know how to make their own invitations. The only difference is how imaginative and creative you are to win the emerging competition. I’m thankful that I have knowledge in media design. Eversince I graduated from my technical course I’ve never had a different job except being a graphic designer or artist.

Electronic Holiday Cards

Now you can have more than traditional cards sent to your loved one. Sure they may be personalized and your loved one may see the hardwork you put effort in but some loved ones prefer creativity therefore getting electronic holiday cards could be good! I mean they’re cute, they dance unlike pop up cards. I’m not saying that it’s better but it’s an alternative and something new for grandma. It will be interesting to see how our elders react to this now.

Electronic holidays cards is convenient too. You don’t need to go out to drop off your cards. I think during this holiday season this kind of holiday card is a lot safe cos you know when you send cards to other country there is a tendency that it get lost.

Free online backup

We all know that portable hard disk is very convenient but have you considered of online backups as an option? C’mon what if you found yourself in a situation where you had just completed some important documents, files but only to find out you forgot your portable hard disk to stored it? Luckily there are now free online backup websites that you can create to upload your documents with unlimited bandwidth to access it as well you can send a copy of your document to your email account, but remember there are still con and pro’s in using online backup. But honestly, I can’t trust an online backup. I don’t know, maybe it just me. I feel secured when I can actually touch the hard drive and put it in a safe place.

Corel Graphics Suite has almost no value!

I can only say that its not true… I used to work as graphic artist/designer back in the Philippines and since then I’m already using Coreldraw for all my design projects. It’s the best and easiest software for drawing tools. Later that year, I switched to Adobe Photoshop as my main software for graphics designing but not for vector graphics. I would say that Coreldraw is still the best and the easiest among others especially on making brochures with 16-page in single PS file that is ready to go on a CTP RIP with correct bleeds and registration marks without using any other software title. Do you think you can do that on InDesign? Coreldraw has been doing this since version 9.

I’m writing this entry because I just recently read a review about the latest Coreldraw X4 released by Corel Corporation. The owner of that review blog/website said that ‘CorelDraw X4 Sucks’ and it has almost no value. He’s comparing it to what Adobe can do. Whatever?! Tell me why should we buy and use 4 separate titles (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat) to get the same results we get with one (ok, two, but hey, they are in the same package) title? What does Adobe offer more than Corel? And don’t hit me coz I like Adobe too. It’s a good software and one of the best too and If I’m not mistaken, most widely used in the market. I think its only in the habbit, what you get used to is a major factor… that is what I believe. On my case, I’m used to both of them and still exploring and learning other features of them.

A big mistake tsk… If I only knew I would have never thought of upgrading my WP. So, sorry guys If your comment has gone wasted. So for now, I will just wait for fantastico to upgrade for the new version of WP even I need to upgrade it immediately but I don’t have time to upgrade it manually.
