Finally, an iPhone upgrade for myself…

Last Christmas hubby got me the iphone 4. So finally I was able to upgrade from the previous iphone 3gs that I was using. I must say that so far I am very satisfied with all the updates and upgrades that was brought to the iphone 4. The most noticeable upgrade is the clarity of the screen. Compared to other cell phones screens, the iphone 4′s screen produces clearer and crisper images. I also like the slick design which makes it not cheap and plastic looking.
Also, the most important thing for me is the apps. I am very happy that I did not switch to a different phone brand that way I can still use all the apps that I purchased through my 3gs. Based on my own experience, I think Apple’s apps are so much better than Android apps. I tried some similar apps both present in the app store and android market and for some reason the iphone version is tons better all the time. I am enjoying all the photo editing apps that I am using as of the moment and they all work perfectly with the 5mp camera. So far I’m really having fun with my phone and I’m sure it will keep me occupied for quite some time.
Pacquiao vs Marquez 3: People should realize that Manny clearly won!

Last night we witnessed another victory by Manny Pacquiao. This time around, it’s not the usual Pacman who completely dominated all of his opponent. Nevertheless, a win is a win and that’s what really matters. Immediately after the fight, I noticed that a lot of people were unhappy of the outcome. While the Pacman raised his hands and was announced the winner, both Mexican fans and Filipino fans showered him with boos. Someone even threw a water bottle at him. Again, people think that Marquez was robbed. I don’t think so. My husband doesn’t think so and he has a pretty good explanation as to why the Pacman won the fight last night.
Now, let us rewind and analyze what really happened. From my husband’s point of view, the reason why Manny won is because he definitely won more rounds than Marquez. Although Marquez landed some pretty solid punches in the rounds that he won, he still did not do enough to win more rounds. Take for example the final round. Marquez who showed that he can go toe to toe with Manny decided to back away and take it easy thinking that he has got the win and there is no more need to risk getting knocked down. That’s a big mistake by Nacho his coach. Why would you back away? Nothing was certain at that point of the fight. Freddy Roach on the other hand instructed Manny to go all out and try to put Marquez down. So during the final round Manny was still the aggressor and he landed the biggest punch of that round in the final seconds which helped him win the round or maybe even the fight.
Let us not forget that Manny is the champion and Marquez is the challenger. In order to beat the champ the challenger must really put up a real challenge. Marquez is a counter puncher and he did that very well last night but just counter punching is not enough to take the belt from the champ. Marquez was never the aggressor in the fight. All night he backed up and waited for Manny to open up and make mistakes. Manny knew what Marquez wanted to do so he became very cautious in response. In the end although Manny was very careful he still landed more punches and threw more too. He was the fighter who did more work. He was the busier fighter and that’s exactly why he retained his belt.
Remember the first Ali vs Frazier fight? Frazier was the challenger, the underdog, the person everyone expected to lose. While Ali was the superstar champion to everyone. Frazier the challenger put Ali down twice and eventually got the unanimous decision. Something tells me that that’s what a challenger is suppose to do. Make the champion look like the underdog. Put him down in the canvas and never let him be the aggressor. I don’t think I saw that from Marquez last night.
So what is the future for both fighters? Fight no. 4? Nah…the result will always be controversial. Pacquiao and Marquez can never dominate each other because of their styles. Pacquiao can not use his hands as much as he’d like to because of Marquez’s counter punch. Marquez on the other note cannot be the aggressor because all he does is wait and counter punch. Manny is blessed to have won two fights against Marquez but he won it in a fair manner. No body cheated anybody. We should all respect that. It’s unfortunate that Marquez cannot get the nod from judges but that’s the way it is and we should leave it at that.
Before I end this entry, people were saying that after last night Manny may not be ready to face Mayweather. For those who don’t know, Mayweather fought and handled Marquez easily in 12 rounds. Based on that win by Mayweather people think Manny can’t handle him. Maybe Manny can’t or maybe he can. Who knows? Let us just not forget that Manny destroyed De la Hoya, Mosely and Hatton in a more destructive fashion than Mayweather did when he fought them.
These are my husbands two cents…These are the reasons why I think Manny won the fight last night fair and square. Congrats to Congressman Manny Pacquiao! You always make us Filipinos proud.
How the internet bring us together…

The internet has played a very big role in our everyday lives. Some people use it for work, for school or simply for socializing and communicating with family and friends around the world. Well, as for me, I usually use the internet for work and to be able to chat with my relatives back home in the Philippines. I use Yahoo Messenger and or Facebook to get news from my family. I also use their video conferencing application so we can video chat.
Using the internet to communicate with my family is much more convenient rather than talking to them on the phone which can be very expensive especially when calling abroad. I am also aware that using a telephone card can also be cheap when calling abroad but trust me, I’ve had so many bad experiences with phone cards that I will never use one of those again. Those cards are just so bad. The connection is horrible and you get disconnected every five minutes.
So thanks to the internet I get up to date news about home from my relatives and I get to update them about me in return. Social networking sites like Facebook lets me upload pictures of my family here in the States so relatives from across the world can view them. It’s really nice that we are all able to do this because of the internet. Just imagine how disconnected everyone will feel without it.

Motorola Atrix can also compare to iphones as Atrix considered to be a smartphones just like a PC in your packet. So Smart that you can also surf to the web with no hassle using its wireless capability features. Many people that already tried using these smartphones have good feedbacks especially on its key functions, features and price.

I am very much looking forward to the game Dark Souls which is scheduled to come out on the 4th of October. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of you do not know or haven’t heard of this game. Well, Dark Souls is a sequel to Demon Souls which came out only for the PS3 about two years ago. Demon Souls is an action RPG from Japan which was not widely promoted here in the West. Very few people knew about Demon Souls when it was first launched but because of how good the game is gamer’s from around the world started to recognize it as one of the best RPG to come out for Playstation.
Well, I don’t know much about Dark Souls but just because it’s sequel to my personal favorite RPG, that’s enough for me to go ahead and pick it up. If the system is going to be somewhat like Demon Souls with some added new things and upgrades to the game then that’s just perfect! For those who never played Demon Souls, well, I suggest you play it first. This game is more action oriented compared to traditional RPG’s like Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age. The action is so much fun but be warned, every gamer who played this game knows that the game is brutally difficult.
The goal in Demon Souls is to kill creatures/monsters in every level and gain souls for every slain foe. At the end of every level there will always be a boss fight. The bosses or demons are very unique and very tough to slay. After slaying a demon you then go back to your world where you can upgrade your weapons and skills. When you think you’re all set for another insane ride you then enter a portal to start another level. In Demon Souls there are five portals which have about four levels in each of them. So unlike your traditional RPG, Demon Souls is not an open world game. It is more linear but in a very good way. You have to go through all the portals and finish all the levels within them to beat the game.
Multiplayer wise, Demon Souls is very unique. Players online can leave clues to other players playing online. Using the controller you can type clues like ” There’s a trap ahead”. You will also be able to see how other online players died and what mistakes they did for that to happen by touching random blood stains on your way. Another good thing is summoning an ally to defeat a powerful foe or if you think that you’re the strongest then you can invade other players world and hunt them down.
If Dark Souls will be like Demon Souls or even better than it’s definitely a must play. Just the degree of difficulty alone challenges you so much and rewards you even more after slaying a demon.

Cellphones nowadays are very advanced, especially smartphones. I am very pleased with both Android and iOS operating systems because they are both user friendly and they both offer a lot of useful and fun applications. Speaking of applications, which one are your favorites? Since I’m an Android user I can really only talk about Android apps. So far, my favs are the ones I find very useful like Cardio Trainer, Guitar Tuner, barcode scanner, IMDB app and Score Mobile. These apps are superb and highly recommended. If you guys have more apps that are nice and useful, let me know so I can try them.

For years now I’ve been fascinated by the idea of home automation systems. I’ve always wanted to own a house that looks and feels very modern. By the way, I’m the type of person that fancies gadgets and relies on them a lot too. So my idea of a home would be something simple. Not too many things crowding the rooms and everything is pretty much automated.
By everything automated I mean centralized heat, AC, lighting and controls for home entertainment and home security. I was also thinking about something cool like automatic ambiance control depending on the time of day. So in the morning when you get up, the ambiance will be something bright and happy just the way how we want to start our day. In the afternoon the scene will be something more mellow and peaceful to give you some time to relax after a very busy day at work. In the evening you’ll get like a more darker scene for a romantic night with your love one.
All of these are just plans in my head right now but hopefully when everything starts going my way I can turn these ideas to reality.
