Guest Entry: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Aug 30, 2010 PC Games Leave a comment
It is difficult to compete with a legend. When StarCraft first came out in 1998, it was well received, and sold around 1.5 million in its first year. Now, starCraft II: Wings of Liberty offers one of the best games in the real-time strategy genre ever made and is one of the most anticipated game releases of 2010 which is the first episode of Starcraft 2 Universe Saga and continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft.

Starcraft 2 is really a mixture between the first Starcraft and Warcraft 3, this hybrid is the best thing Blizzard could have come up with. A lot of units have special abilities now, making them a unique tool on the battlefield, nearly all the units have a distinctive characteristic that can change your battle outcome. The Interface or the graphics of the game is very user-friendly and beautifully done.

Is your PC ready for playing StarCraft II? Check out the game system requirements to see if your PC made the cut.

The world should get their priorities straight…
Jul 24, 2010 Ideas, Mp3 player 1 Comment
Have you ever heard of anybody lately who has mentioned MP3 players? I’d probably say statistically 50% of the population or more don’t use this phrase at all anymore. They’d probably just call these players as iPod or practically any music device as an iPod. How Apple is able to brainwash the minds of many!
But of course there are more important things to talk about like probably a huge percent of the world population hasn’t even held an MP3 player yet. I am not sure if majority of people in Somalia has even seen one. I think that sometimes the world has to stop and get their priorities straight. The world has become such a selfish entity that we are forgetting the things that matters.
3D is coming to handheld gaming
Jul 22, 2010 Buzz, Consoles, Video Games 1 Comment
2011 will be a special year for handheld gaming because Nintendo has officially announced its new handheld gaming device to be the successor of the popular DS, DSi and DSi XL which is the 3DS (not the official name). The 3DS will provide 3d gaming even without those annoying 3d glasses. Also, Nintendo is also nice enough to have a slot for game cartridges which will support backward compatibility. So now, you can get a 3DS and enjoy 3d gaming and still be able to play your old DS games.
This product will surely be awesome thanks to Nintendo but I think Sony will also come up with something next year to counter the 3DS. I mean, Sony has to come up with something after the PspGo didn’t really click. Expect the 3DS to hit store shelves sometime early next year and also expect a very high price tag but of course, it’s going to be worth it. 3D….it’s going to be awesome!

Vignette Android App Rated 4 out of 5
Jul 9, 2010 Android Market, Cellphones 1 Comment
I’ve been using this android application for almost a month now. Check out the features and Pros & Cons below. My favorite effects and frames to use are Toy Camera, Vintage, Lens Effect, Customised (thats how the owner spells it) and Grungy, Polaroid for frames effect. If you love photography or just love taking pictures and love to play with color tones and muted colors, this android application is made for you.
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Tons of cool visual effects to add to camera phone photos
- Import pictures from your existing photo gallery to apply effects to
- Offers 10x digital zoom
- Geotag your location within photos
Cons
- So far the Pro version can only handle up to 5 megapixel resolution
Features:
Vignette Android App is a nice camera app that can possibly replace the default camera app for most Android phones (although the latest Android 2.2 “Froyo” version offers a limited set of sweet comparable goodies too). Using the app makes you seem like somewhat of a camera phone pro with it’s built in filters and effects:
- Normal – generic film effect
- Vignette – focus attention at the center of the frame
- Porta – Smooth skin tones for flattering portraits
- Velvia – vivid colors for nature photography
- Ilford – Classic black and white
- Plus more like… Toy camera, Vintage, Colour Highlight, Tinted monochrome, Lens effects, Cinematic and even customize filters by combining them
Plus many photo frame effects like rounded edges, oval shaped, Polaroid photo borders, panoramic and more. You can import and apply Vignette effects to photos. Geotag pictures which will save your location in the photos’ metadata. Offers 10x digital zoom (while most Android phones offer a default of 2-4x digital zoom), however we notice going up to 10x won’t do your pics any justice.

Reading should be easy and fun with Sony eReader
Jul 7, 2010 Tablet Wi-fi/PDA, eReader 1 Comment
Today is my husbands birthday. Every year on his birthday he would always buy something nice for himself. Last year I think he bought shoes. I can’t really remember. Anyway for this year’s birthday he bought a Sony Reader at Borders. There are lots of ereaders out there right now so it was hard to decide which one to get. Before purchasing the Sony Reader he also considered getting the Kobo but unfortunately they didn’t have it in the store.
I’ve used the Sony Reader a few times already and I’m really impressed with it. There are tons of features that are pretty cool like the dictionary tool that lets you look up the meaning of a word as you read just by double tapping the word using the stylus or with your finger. It’s very handy and I think it’s one good reason to use an ereader. Also you can highlight some text that you like then add notes about it and store it for later use. You can also store music in the reader so that you can listen to music while you read. It’s very useful especially when you’re riding the bus or train where people are loud and you want to concentrate on reading.
The Sony Reader came with a computer program called the Reader Library where you can purchase and download ebooks. Downloading was fast and easy and transferring files was a breeze. The Reader can store about 350 ebooks using the internal memory and much more if you use the two slots for sd card and memory stick pro duo. Oh and of course, I have to mention how nice and elegant it looks compared to other readers out there. It is more practical than getting an iPad too.
Overall, my husband was very satisfied with his purchase. Also, according to him, the Kobo is also worth checking out. The screen is brighter and text is much darker although it just looks a little funky. Now that he has a reader, reading should be easy and fun.

I finally saw the movie Avatar a week ago. All I can say is that it’s very beautiful and the most fantastic 3D film. I love the idea on how a spirit of a person can transfer into a human like doll. I also like all the illuminating plants in this movie. They’re so wonderful to watch. It’s beyond the world of fairies. I just need to say that Michelle Rodriguez whose best-known for playing tough-girl roles was very effective on this movie but there’s one thing that I noticed. She most of the time dies on her movie role, why?
So for now, I’m not quite ready to see every piece of the world’s media in 3D. But Avatar? Yeah, I’ll be seeing it again…and maybe again…just in hopes of absorbing a bit more of the visual splendor. – Avatar Review: Yes, It Changed Everything After All
In case you haven’t seen Avatar, I suggest you watch it now. This $300 million dollar movie budget is worth a thousand of your time.
It feels so good…

It’s been a while since I first thought of Rooting my Cliq. I didn’t do it before cos I couldn’t find information on how to root a Motorola Cliq. But last night, I started tinkering my phone. Oh men, it took me ages to successfully root it cos there are lots of false and incomplete tutorials in Youtube. Actually, my hubby got irritated and annoyed with me already because I kept bugging him to help me read the long list of instructions. Also, he needed to call several people this morning and since the phone was unavailable, he couldn’t use it. After several times of doing the procedures and just tonight I’ve finally rooted my Cliq. I’m confident that I can get my phone back to a working state again if not I wouldn’t dare myself to hack my phone. I was having fun though cos I’m able to use the DOS commands again haha, shallow, I know! I feel so happy every time I accomplish something regardless of its importance. I like to tinker stuff like this as well cos I think, I’m a technical person :p
Anyways if you are an Android or a Motorola Cliq user and want to hack your phone, be careful with finding a good tutorial. Lots of people are making money out of it by giving other people a hard time so that they will turn into them if they can’t fix their phone after messing it up. That’s what I’m thinking while reading all the information.
In connection above, I’d like to share the tutorial I used to Root my Cliq so you won’t end up on a wrong tutorial that’s scattered around Youtube. This is the best tutorial I’ve read from almost two days of figuring out my phone.
These links are posted according to which steps is the first thing to do:
- How to Root the Motorola Cliq
- How To: Set Up ADB/USB Drivers for Android Devices
- How to load a custome ROM on the Motorola Cliq
Just read the instruction carefully and you’ll be fine. It is the best idea as well if you read all the people’s comment to each of this instructions. Trust me, your time consumed by doing all these are worth a thousand times. The new UI of flashed ROM given by the tutorial above are quite impressive. Once your phone is rooted, there’s no limit on what you’re going to do with your phone. You can even make your own ROM.
You are free to leave a comment or contact me if you have some problems on Rooting your Motorola Cliq. Have fun!
