Zumba Fitness for PS3

Today my husband and I dropped by Gamestop just to look around. Nothing exciting for PS3 in there. I guess the big titles don’t lunch until late January but still that didn’t stop us from getting a new game. We picked up the workout game Zumba Fitness. I’ve read some bad reviews about it but I still wanted to try it out since I love Zumba. As soon as we got home, I tried it out and I must add that I am pleased with the game. It’s a very good workout almost like real Zumba. My kids even love it.

Black Ops

COD fans out there, are you ready for Black Ops? I’ve had just enough of Modern Warfare 2 already and getting pretty tired of the game. It’s been almost a year now playing MW2 and I need something fresh. I’ve seen a lot of trailers of Black Ops in youtube and it looks a lot of fun. Most people who comment on the videos though are not very impressed. They say it’s the same thing from the last COD’s. I don’t know about that though. Although the previews look really cool lets just wait for the game to come out before we completely judge it. Don’t forget how trailers and previews work. They try to make anything look good.

One thing about this game though that I’m really excited about is the new zombie mode. For weeks I’ve been trying to get information about the zombie mode. Some said that it’s the same zombie game from World at War so I was kind of disappointed when I heard that. Good thing though that I found a leaked video on youtube showing a little gameplay from the zombie mode. Cool thing about the zombie mode this time is that you’re in the Pentagon and the characters that can be used in the game are JFK, Nixon, Fidel Castro and one more guy. I forget his name. Anyway, it’s really cool. Check it out yourself on youtube. Just search “Pentagon zombie mode”.

I can’t really wait any longer for Black Ops. Just a few more days to go. For sure I’ll do another midnight at Gamestop for this one.

Get a MOVE on!

Hey there PS3 fans! Today, finally, Playstation Move is launched. As we all know, according to reports the Move is more accurate than the Wii’s motion controller. Right now, you can get the motion controller and camera separately or you can purchase the sports champions bundle for $99.99. I would personally go for the bundle because it comes with everything you need plus the sports game. Next week more games are coming out that’s compatible for the Move.
ps3 move

I am personally excited  for this. I like how Playstation approached this project. I know all the games that’s coming out in weeks, months and years will all be awesome. That’s all for now. I’m running to the nearest game shop to get it. I’ll be back for more specific details about the product. See you later gadget freaks!

The Sims 3 coming out in Consoles

Yes its coming out this Fall. I’m not sure if I’m going to play it. I lost interest in playing video games anymore. Sometime I play, sometimes I don’t. I’m so busy with my kids and with all the workshop I’ve been taking at my daughter’s school. Also, I have plans on putting my eldest into an acting school. The enrollment will start this coming May 10 and I don’t how many session she will going to attend. Besides all of these, I can’t interrupt my hubby playing with his PS3. Maybe I should get my own lolz.. kidding!

So anyways, an excerpt about this news:

The PS3 and 360 editions of the game will also feature an online exchange system where players can share content they’ve created with others. The two versions will feature online integration with Facebook as well, allowing them to broadcast their achievements and trophies on the social networking service. More here!

God of War 3: the puzzle game

I’ve been a fan of God of War since the first one came out for ps2. Back then I thought it was one of the best game I’ve ever played and it’s definitely on the top of my list. The sequel to the first God of War for me was equally as good as the first and so after years of waiting for the third and final God of War, expectations were over the top and I just had to get on the first day.

What do I think about it? Well, I want to say it was good. It was actually just “OK” for me. Of course, the story and fights are top notch but I just felt that there wasn’t enough action. You’ll find your self fighting a bunch of skeletons which is fun but after that it’s a bunch of running around and trying to solve puzzles. Don’t get me wrong, the puzzles are great but in a game like God Of War you’ll probably want to keep killing. More killing than puzzle solving I think is what I was looking for.

One more thing about the game, I noticed a lot of people are saying that this might be the best looking game to come out for the ps3. Well, yah GOW 3 looks awesome but games like Final Fantasy XIII or Uncharted definitely looks a lot lot more prettier. If I were to give GOW 3 a score, I’d give it a 8.5 out of 10 instead of the 10 out of 10 most people give it.

Sure, the boss fights are awesome but besides that there’s really nothing else exciting about it. I even have more fun playing the sexy, fun, action packed game Bayonetta. Way way much more action than GOW 3 but that’s a different story.

Some gadget shopping

As what I have said in my other blog, we went shopping last Sunday. I bought all the necessary accessories for our gadgets like this cute pink mini mice and a pink mouse pad for my laptop. Guess what brand I chose? Its from Microsoft, I did not know that they’re venturing to electronics. I also purchased 2 cans of electronic dust spray. I’ve been wanting that dust spray for like a year now.  It was a nice feeling that you got all you need though I still need to buy a wireless USB for Yuna’s computer. We moved her computer table in the other side of the house which is away from the internet modem. Oh by the way, just want to brag a little, we finally got a new HDTV. Not a famous brand and the size is only 32″ but we are kind of contented and happy cos at last we have an HDTV now. Hubby said we are going to buy the big one with a nice brand next time. The husband is so happy with his new TV. He couldn’t stop playing all his PS3 games.

We have also tested the blue-ray disc of our PS3 for the 1st time. We watched the ‘Push’ movie and I can believe we’ve missed the quality of the blue-ray disc for such a long time. It was so awesome watching movie in HD. So sharp and clear. I’m loving our new TV ^_^x

On the other hand, I feel like changing my phone again. I don’t want a sociable mobile phone anymore. Right now, I only want a phone that has Mobile internet where I can blog and browse the internet. That’s it no other unnecessary stuff. Also, I want one with a bigger screen d(>w<)b

FFXIII, could this be my next FF fave?

Final-Fantasy-XIII_US_ESRB_FINAL_PS3boxart_160wIt has been a long time since my last play of Final Fantasy. Well, actually, I did not play all the FF series only FFviii, FFx and FFx2. Since I moved here in the US I dont have much time to play with my hubby’s PS3 though I play sometimes but not that intimate like yesterdays lol. The new Final Fantasy 13 is coming out this March 9, could this be my next FF fave? Could it be *wink* I’ve seen the preview and I think it has a great storyline like my previous FF fave. Ooohh and also the graphics for this game is breathtaking combined with new gameplay styles. Check out the preview and see for your self. It’s definitely something to watch out for this year…

PS3 Motion Sensing Controller!

Something to watch out this coming Spring for PS3 gamers.

…the prototype looks like a wand with a color-changing ball on top. It’s designed to work in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye, with the wand overlaid on-screen with a weapon or tool. Unlike Microsoft’s Project Natal, Sony says they’ve learned “some experiences need buttons,” which is why there’s still a controller involved. The system is said to be “sub-millimeter” precise, and it was demoed drawing and playing a shooter — it’s sort of the middle ground between Natal and Wii Motion Plus. Sony says it’ll launch in the spring of 2010, but we don’t know what pricing will be like yet.

Watch the video patiently the controller’s functions are really cool!

Take note it’s only prototype. I wish the final version would look better than this prototype that looks like a microphone with pink head :D

Our new toy ~ Junior (PS3)

Two weeks ago we purchased the most popular console in the current year, the Playstation 3 80GB. We traded our old PS2 along with the games and other accessories. We didn’t actually plan to buy it but when we saw  Gamestop’s promo we decided to get it since my husband wanted and waited for it too long. He didn’t get any present on his last birthday and last christmas. And so we got the console almost half of the price. This is gonna be my early father’s day and birthday gift for him.

  • 60 GB PAL software based PS2 emulation, 4 USB ports, card reader, reasonable HDD – DISCONTINUED
  • 80 GB software based PS2 emulation, 4 USB ports, card reader, reasonable HDD – RUMORED TO BE DISCONTINUED.

Snippet of an excellent review from a PS3 user. This review is a bit long but have patience to read it. It has lots of information you need for your lower hardware PS3.

Necessary disclosure: I do not own this model. I have what used to be a 60GB model, recently upgraded to 320GB – the gold standard.

As compared to the 60GB model:
______________________________________________
+ less expensive (I paid $599 for my 60GB PS3)
+ 33% more storage
+ needs less power
+ dual shock controller (rumble)
- no memory card interfaces
- 2 USB ports vs. 4 USB ports on the 60GB
- no PS2 compatibility
______________________________________________

This model comes with an 80GB drive. This is nice because, most would agree, 80GB is more than 60GB. If you feel that the extra 20GB is a big deal, maybe you should think again. I upgraded my 60GB to 320GB because I was about to run out of space, with only 10GB or so left. One month or so later, I’m using more than 80GB already – just downloaded the Ratchet and Clank minigame from PSN and it alone needs about 3GB. My advice is to buy this model and upgrade it yourself. It’s (relatively) easy and you can find a lot of advice if you Google for it. If you are thinking about waiting and getting the 160GB model for an extra $100, don’t. $100 would buy you the 320GB drive. I used the Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320 GB Scorpio Sata 5400 Rpm 8MB 2.5 inch myself. The nice thing about upgrading your disk is that you are also going to be left with a perfectly good 80GB drive which you can place into a cheap enclosure, and the StarTech SAT2510U2 InfoSafe 2.5-Inch USB/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure worked for me. I am using the free (in my case) 60GB drive as a backup device for family photos. Digital, of course.

The lack of memory card interfaces is annoying but you can get around it. Copy your stuff to a USB drive or flash drive and… problem solved. You can then upload your things through the USB. It’s somewhat inconvenient but it’s no big deal.

My old (10 months) 60GB model has 4 USB slots and I am using all of them. One for the PS3 Eye (camera), a second has a wireless keyboard dongle, the third is where the racing wheel plugs in and the last one I use to charge controllers. Can you live with 2 slots? I suppose you can but there’s going to be some plugging/unplugging if you begin adding peripherals. I suppose you could get one of those USB ports multiplexers. They’re ugly but… it’s doable.

PS2 compatibility… can’t get it. Sorry. I don’t play PS2 games but my kids do. In fact, they just bought some Sonic game a couple of days ago. I was surprised but… de gustibus. They’re also playing Kingdom Hearts and Destroy All Humans.

This model comes with a couple of improvements over the gold standard. It burns less electricity, which is a good thing for the rain forests, keeping them cool and maybe you save a few dollars on your electric bill. And, of course you get the advanced controller.

To summarize: buy it, upgrade the drive to 320GB or larger for $100, use the 80GB disk as a backup device, get yourself a USB port multiplexer if you need more than 2, transfer your photos to flash drives to get around the missing memory card interfaces, sell your PS2 games to finance the above, enjoy your PS3.

Torn apart

This coming weeks my husband is planning to purchase something for himself. He has been wanting to buy a video game console for quite sometime now. He hasn’t really purchased anything for himself lately so I guess it’s just right for him to pamper himself this time. He is torn between PS3 and a gaming desktop computer. The good thing about PS3 is that there’s lots of them that are on sale right now but it might not be as fun as a gaming desktop. The only down side to the desktop is that it’s much much more expensive than PS3 and also space consuming since we only have a small apartment. Anyway, which ever it is, I hope he gets something for himself.
